CADILLAC SHOWS OFF OPTIQ EV INTERIOR EARLY

  • Cadillac reveals Optiq interior ahead of its debut at the Beijing Motor Show.
  • The cabin borrows design elements from the larger Lyriq.
  • Details on US-spec Optiq likely to follow soon.

Cadillac has unveiled the interior of the all-new Optiq EV ahead of the vehicle’s launch later this month at the Beijing Motor Show, held between April 25 and May 4. The cabin blends traditional luxury elements with modern technologies, much like the Lyriq. The Optiq borrows several design and trim elements from its larger sibling, such as the three-spoke steering wheel and an expansive driver’s display and infotainment screen housed under one piece of glass. In the Lyriq, the diagonal advanced LED display measures 33 inches.

With its rotary gear selector and twin cupholders, the center console is similar to that in the Lyriq. However, the console has been raised in the smaller Caddy to create the impression that it is floating. The slim air vents are also similar to those seen on the Lyriq. Beneath these, you’ll find physical climate controls and an open storage bin with ambient lighting.

Classy, Lyriq-Inspired Interior

In these early images, two color schemes are previewed. The warm saddle-colored leather upholstery pairs beautifully with the black carpeting, dashboard, and headliner, creating an upmarket and cozy effect. The center console has glossy wood-effect inlays, but most accents are either a shade of silver or glossy piano black.

It will be shown in full later this year.

The light gray leather with blue interior appointments is a little fresher and more exuberant. The tray beneath the floating console, lower door trim, and dashboard have all been finished in a vivid blue paired with carbon fiber-style inlays. Overall, it's a very attractive cockpit that complements the stylish Optiq exterior revealed in November.

What We Know So Far

Tasteful interior lighting bathes the cabin in a relaxed and calming blue glow. This also highlights the dual USB-C ports to the left of the storage bin. When the Chinese-market Optiq leaked in June 2023, the base model was said to produce 201 horsepower, with a sprightlier version offering 241 hp. Battery size and range are yet to be confirmed, but the lithium-ion pack is reportedly sourced from CATL.

Expect North American versions to pack a bit more punch; the Chevrolet Equinox EV has up to 290 hp, and we doubt GM would allow its mainstream offerings to outperform its premium vehicles. With the reveal of the cabin, we expect more information to follow before long, including pricing and availability for both China and America.
